My team and I designed an app that allows users to create and share custom buyers’ guides, as well as, get paid cash money through a simple referral system.

From our interviews we were able to come up with a persona to help us better understand the needs and habits of our users.

Task 1

Although task was easy, intuitive, and “Familiar”, users felt the flow was a little disrupted because we did not offer screens for confirmation on sign-up process.

Add additional screens that confirm user’s actions during sign-up process

We added in an AMAZON SIGN IN so that it makes sense to users were confused on what we were doing with their email after introducing the basis of our app.

Task 2

Based on user’s feedback and test results, we put our focus mainly on ensuring that the navigation of the site offered flexibility for the users' convenience. For example, we revised the screens of the app to include a header to ensure that users are always cognizant of where they are on the site. Another thing we included on our app screens based off of this insight was an “add” feature on the homepage so that users can have the flexibility to post a new guide or product wherever they are in their journey.

Task 3

Users were a little confused on some of the terminology we used. For example, we named the homepage “feed" when users are familiar with “home”.

Revise navigation terms to say the word “Home” to find feed

With our persona in mind, we were better equipped to empathize with our users. They also helped us create scenarios and tasks for our user testings.

We want to make sure that our app is user friendly in that there are limitations of what they can do and where. It’s important for essential functions like adding a post to be visible and accessible at every point of their journey.

Additionally, we needed to make sure that we designed product pages of Amazon to look like an overlay so that when the developers and PMs look over our wireframes they understood that it was in-app browsing NOT an external Amazon’s app.
